With the official WRC games on hold until 2027, indie rally games are filling the gap, from Old School Rally, to the upcoming Super Woden: Rally Edge. From independent developer NetK2Games, Rally Arcade Classics is another tribute to old-school rally games that’s worth a look for fans of the genre.
First released on PC before being ported to PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch this year, Rally Arcade Classics is heavily inspired by Sega Rally, with a driving model blending arcade and simulation elements.
The indie rally title features a lengthy single player campaign, with 44 cars inspired by iconic models from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000s to unlock and a variety of game modes, from traditional time trials to Gran Turismo-style license tests.

Next month, a new update will add several new features and improvements. Launching on 9th September, the ‘Precision & Chase’ update will introduce a much-needed manual transmission option, giving players greater precision when navigating the narrow courses. Alongside manual transmissions, a revamped speedometer will replace the previous bar graphic.
Online global leaderboards let you compare your times with other players. Thanks to the short stage lengths, this can get addictive. Next month’s update will improve the leaderboards by adding options for comparing times with friends and the top ten players. A new friend list will also allow you to follow up to 25 players on your friends list.
“We devoted two hard years to create this game with a passionate team and one goal: to combine elements from different eras of racing games and keep an accessible experience for both veteran and new fans of the genre,” said Salvador Casamiquela, co-founder at NetK2Games.
Rally Arcade Classics is a fun time, but while it features over 40 cars and 48 circuits, there are only four locations: Finland, Catalonia, Greece and Monte Carlo. Let’s hope that future updates can expand the indie rally game with more cars, locations and longer stages.
