One of the most innovative sim racing competitions is back for a 2024/25 season, using Racing Unleashed’s motion rigs and a talented lineup of drivers.

A total of 135,000 Swiss Francs (CHF) is up for grabs across Racing Unleahsed’s upcoming sim racing competitions – the Racer League and Challenger League.

Both make use of the outfit’s superlative motion simulators, crafted in Italy from carbon fibre and fitted with Simucube wheel bases.

Uniquely, competitors will be racing from Racing Unleashed’s lounges in person, across Madrid, Munich and Zurich. They will be connected via the internet to compete in the same race event.

For the pinnacle Racer League, the top 10 drivers from the 2023 season have automatically qualified for the new 2024/25 season, with the rest of the grid made up of drivers who qualify at the lounges before each subsequent round.

That means the likes of last season’s champion Michal Smidl, and vice-champion Alejandro Sanchez will be joined by a new roster of rivals – which for the first round at least includes multiple Gran Turismo World Series champion, Coqué Lopez.

Those in the top league will be racing in a Formula 1-style vehicle. For the opening rounds the Formula Alpha 2023 by VRC, before switching to an upgraded Formula Alpha 2024 later in the season.

For those in the Challenger League, a new Formula 2-style single-seater will be in use. This competition is open to all comers and offers a potential pathway into Racer for the following season. 

Prizes in the pro-level Racer League consist of 10,000 CHF for the overall championship, plus up to 3,000 CHF per race victory, with small payouts down to 10th place.

The event format will alternate. The first round will see one-lap rapid-fire qualifying followed by a race. The second round will use a grid consisting of the top 10 championship positions reversed. Then, round three is back to one-lap qualifying, and so on.

Meanwhile, in the Challenger League, the top prize is 3,000 CHF with up to 750 CHF for individual race results.

There will be an eight-round season, starting 26th October and ending with the final round 10th May 2025. Each will be broadcast live on the Racing Unleashed YouTube channel.
