Details for the return of the Dallara iR-01 iRacing Grand Prix Championship, now dubbed the Turn Racing Grand Prix, are still scarce.

Just over a month ago during the 49th episode of the iRacing Downshift podcast, it was revealed that the Dallara Grand Prix Championship Series would be returning to iRacing at some point in 2023.

It seems we are due for a return to the World Championship Series in 2023 Season 4 as iRacing announced a new name and qualifying series for it on Thursday (22nd June) and it all kicks off on the 6th of July.

Now called the Turn Racing Grand Prix iRacing Series, the World Championship’s qualifying series will take place over seven weeks and will include both road courses, as the series was exclusively in 2021, as well as one oval race smack dab in the middle at Pocono Raceway on the 27th of July.

This likely is due in part to the oval update to the Dallara iR-01 in 2023 iRacing Season 2 a few months ago. The fantasy single seater got a new lease on life as tracks like Pocono, Michigan, and Texas all became competitive playgrounds at 240 MPH or more.

Turn Racing, mind you, is now the series sponsor, replacing Force Dynamics as the namesake. Turn Racing is a manufacturer of sim racing equipment such as wheel rims and other accessories.

We don’t yet know what the actual World Championship will look like, mind you. The returning Grand Prix World Championship included 26 drivers on the roster in 2021, will that be the same in 2023? How many drivers from that series, if any, will be locked onto the roster?

All we know for sure is that there are seven races scheduled and the races will be on Thursday nights starting at 7:45 BST / 6:45 pm GMT / 2:45 pm ET and the top drivers will get the opportunity to possibly enter the future iRacing World Championship Series.
