Porsche Carrera Cup Italia has announced a new free-to-enter sim racing championship with a huge prize.

Running in association with AK Esports, the Porsche Esports Carrera Cup Italia will see the finest 12 esports racers go head-to-head, aiming to win a real-world Porsche 911 GT3 Cup test courtesy of Porsche Italia.

Using Assetto Corsa Competizione’s Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992), the competition begins with online hot-lap contests, where the fastest 32 drivers take part in a 30-minute race with the top three progressing to the Final Race.

After four of these qualifying and race sessions, the best 12 drivers duke it out at the on-site final at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli’s Porsche Festival on the 7th of October 2023 with two 30-minute races, with the winner receiving the Porsche test first prize.

The first round of hot-lap qualifying is already underway at Silverstone, lasting until the 11th of June, with the further three rounds visiting Zandvoort, Spa-Francorchamps and Monza respectively.

To participate, players need to own the PC version of Assetto Corsa Competizione with the Challengers Pack DLC; be over the age of 18; reside in either Italy, the Republic of San Marino or Vatican City and receive a ping from the competition server of less than 150ms.

It’s not the first time Porsche Carrera Cup Italia has ventured into esports, with last year’s ‘Drive to Dream’ competition boasting a fully-paid prize drive in the 2023 championship. An officially backed Porsche Esports series has run in some form or another every year since 2018.

For more information on how to join the 2023 series visit the Porsche Esports Carrera Cup Italia site. The runner-up in the competition will receive a Porsche Experience voucher while third prize is an unannounced sim racing cockpit. It will also be possible for players to enter a prize draw to win a wireless Bluetooth Logitech G G435 LIGHTSPEED Gaming Headset.
