It is often said that the main reason with the Nordschleife is not part of the Assetto Corsa Competizione track roster is the platform being the official game of formerly Blancpain, and latterly GT World Challenge – in other words, SRO-organised real-world races.
Thus, every circuit featured must be used in a Stéphane Ratel-sanctioned event to align with the licencing agreement. So far, that’s always been the case, including this year’s Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia, part of the 2023 GT World Challenge DLC.
During this weekend’s 24 Hours of Spa race, ongoing at the time of publication, there was the annual SRO Motorsports Press Conference, held by Ratel.
Last year, you may remember this is where the 2023 GT3 DLC and upcoming GT2 DLC for Competizione were announced.
This year, no such big reveal directly for the game, however, the Intercontinental GT Challenge – a series already featuring within ACC – calendar for the real-world 2024 season was announced. For the first time, this now includes the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in cooperation with the ADAC.
Therefore, it stands to reason that the famed venue could now potentially be licenced and released for Assetto Corsa Competizione fans.
Before we get carried away, it’s worth remembering that developers Kunos are said to be hard at work on the next iteration of the Assetto Corsa franchise at present, set for a Spring 2024 release as per Digital Brothers Spa financial documents.
But, in theory, should the development, production and marketing budget be set aside, and the timings align, it’s now techically possible for ACC to include the Nordschleife.
And we’ll leave you with this, the official IGTC social media testing Assetto Corsa:
“Hello, is that @AC_assettocorsa? Yeah, we need to talk…”
