Buying a full sim racing cockpit can be expensive, time-consuming and space-zapping – in the best way possible.
But, for some, it simply may not be possible to go the whole esports-team aping setup, but you’d still want to dabble in racing with a steering wheel.
Several manufacturers offer desk mounts, but that replies on a table that is sturdy enough to take the punishment required of virtual racing.
That’s where a wheel stand comes into play, and Next Level Racing has just launched a new range addition – the Wheel Stand Lite 2.0.
A series of round metal tubes, that neatly folds into a slim box during shipping, it is a structure sturdy enough to take devices that output up to 10Nm of torque (direct drive, gear or belt-driven) plus load cell pedals.
Your entry-level Fanatec or Moza Racing devices, for instance, should be an ideal fit, alongside ubiquitous wheels such as the Thrustmaster T248 and Logitech G293.
There’s an adjustable wheel plate and an included side plate for gear shifter or handbrake mounting which can be placed on either side. The angle of the pedal plate can also be adjusted.
At the front, a wheel tray can be affixed, for those who use a gaming or office chair. Should you then later decide to purchase a cockpit, these elements can be added to an expanded unit for $199 when an add-on arrives in Q4 of this year.
The Wheel Stand Lite 2.0 is available from today, 12th September, for $149 including shipping.
