Motorsport UK – the governing body for all four-wheeled motorsport in the United Kingdom – recently launched an esports hub as a way to inform and attract prospective sim racers to the sometimes intimidating hobby.
As well as esports series and one-off races – like the ROKiT British F4 Esports Championship and the Buttkicker Britcar 24hrs of Silverstone – Motorsport UK has today (6th April 2023) announced a Hot Lap Challenge using Assetto Corsa Competizione, with British GT Championship tickets, IMB Racewear products and ButtKicker haptic feedback controllers available as prizes.
To participate, players must sign into the event on the SimGrid sim racing platform and become a paid-up member of the Motorsport UK Esports hub at £24.99 for 12 months. Members enjoy discounts from Motorsport UK’s brand partners and access to exclusive esports events with more on the way. Non-members can still participate but are ineligible to receive prizes.
The quickest driver after three weeks of hot lapping across three different British tracks will receive four hospitality tickets to either of the two Silverstone rounds of the 2023 British GT Championship, as well as a ButtKicker Gamer Pro. Weekly prizes are also available for the fastest driver in each round.
The first round commences on the 10th of April at 9 am BST at Brands Hatch Grand Prix, with players able to freely select any of the available GT3 cars. Rounds 2 and 3 will then see the competition move to Donington Park GP and the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit respectively.
