Mix and match during this week’s GT Sport Daily Races

Mix and match during this week’s GT Sport Daily Races

Sometimes, the menu for GT Sport’s Daily Races doesn’t have a stand-out theme but rather showcases what makes the Gran Turismo series so enthralling for many: variety.

To be clear, variety is not to be conflated with quantity. Many other games have more cars and tracks, but GT Sport‘s collection feels curated to sample the good, the bad and the ugly of motorsport.

A delightful mixture of real-world and fiction racetracks, cars old and new.

For the week commencing 18th August 2021, the Daily Race playlist encapsulates this mixture.

First up, the short version, and reversed to boot, of our favourite GT Sport circuit – Autodrome Lago Maggiore.

You’re only allowed to select a front-wheel-drive Gr.4 car, so this recipe smells like a British Touring Car race to us inasmuch as a short track with equally quick cars. Except, it’s in Italy. And fictional…

Renault Megane Gr.4 GT Sport

Race B is a clanger in our eyes. Gr.3 cars (yay), Willow Springs International Raceway: Big Willow (nay).

While Big Willow is not without fun, and yes, it was used to film Ford V Ferrari/Le Mans ’66, the ludicrous runoff areas will happily suck you in like the Graboids from Tremors.

Rounding out the eclectic mix for this week’s set-up is the short Sardegna Road Track B, but in the rapid Gr.2 class Super GT cars.

Throw in tyre wear with a mandatory tyre compound switch mid-race, and we can guarantee a frenetic race.
