After eight years, we’re finally getting a new Mario Kart game, with Mario Kart World speeding onto Nintendo Switch 2 as a launch title.
Set to launch in June, the new Mario Kart is taking the series open world for the first time. Previewed in the reveal trailer, a huge variety of locations were showcased, from urban city courses, snow tracks and even water sections.
Like previous Mario Kart games, Grand Prixs are split into cups, each containing four courses, with the classic Mushroom, Flower, Star, Shell, Bannana, Feather and Lighting cups returning.
In a new twist, you can drive to locations between cup championships rather than select it from a menu. A new free roam mode will also allow you to freely explore the environments.

Four out of the seven main cups were shown during the trailer, revealing 16 tracks so far. That leaves another 12 to be confirmed in the main grand prix, though there will likely be additional bonus stages. Some tracks like Desert Hills and Wario Stadium are returning from previous games, while others are new to Mario Kart World.
First seen in the Switch 2’s initial announcement trailer, the new Mario Bros. Circuit is set in a desert, with wide open roads and landmarks including a 1950s-styleYoshi’s Diner.
Several classic tracks from past Mario Kart games are also returning, with reimagined versions of Toad’s Factory, Peach Beach and Wario’s Galleon shown in the Mario Kart World Direct. Nintendo also hinted that Rainbow World will return, teasing that “a certain colourful course” will unlock if you complete every cup.
Here’s every Mario Kart World track confirmed so far.
