Le Mans Ultimate on PS5 and Xbox Series set for late ‘26/early ‘27 release

Following a notice that console development “could begin in weeks” last quarter, Le Mans Ultimate is in active production for the platforms and even has a tentative release window.

  • Expected release slated for late 2026 or early 2027
  • Third-party publishers looking to get involved

Rewind three months, and Motorsport Games was buoyant. Following a torrid period, it reported operating profit and its CEO, Stephen Hood, proclaimed that development of Le Mans Ultimate console versions “could begin in weeks” as “late state negotiations” progressed.

If that wasn’t confirmation enough, now it has been confirmed that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S conversions are in active development and that, according to Hood, they have a “current estimated delivery between late 2026 and early 2027.”

“I have often spoken about the opportunity to bring Le Mans Ultimate to console and I am pleased to announce that work on this project is underway,” he continued.

“Utilising a highly respected outsourcing partner, we are able to maintain our existing pace on the current main revenue driver, Le Mans Ultimate on PC and our RaceControl subscription service without impacting the live service we’re providing.

“In fact, many of our fans will be pleased to hear that some of the technologies required for this port to gaming consoles are going to be making their way back into the core PC product in the coming releases, even before the console product launches.”

It is not known who the ‘porting agency’ is, although it is not an uncommon practice – Assetto Corsa Competizione on consoles was converted by Untold Games, while Panic Button developed the PlayStation 5 version of Forza Horizon 5.

Publishing deal expected

Hood’s comment also suggests that third-party publishers are also negotiating to be part of the console release:

“Whilst we are currently financing the early stages of the console project, we are in active conversations with several interested parties who may put up the entirety or some of the investment required to bring this exciting project to market.

“Beyond the financing investment, some of the proposals include useful marketing and publishing efforts that could increase the chances of success for our console product release.”

Again, this is another common practice. For example, Rennsport on PC is published by its creators, Competition Company, but the console editions come under Nacon.

Tentative release window

With the initial release window stated in the company’s latest financial report, Hood also expanded on this expectation on the accompanying earnings call:

“The exact date for a console version of Le Mans Ultimate remains subject to further development progress, but realistically, we expect this to be sometime around late 2026 or early 2027.

“We plan on selecting the best release window and not to deliver a product out of financial necessity.”

Motorsport Games reported net income, read profit, of $0.8 million, with revenues of $3.1 million in Q3 2025. Profit was therefore down from $4.2 million in Q2 2025, although still a far cry from its prior loss-making years. The amount reportedly spent on game development increased 54% between Q2 and Q3.
