A new update has dropped for Assetto Corsa EVO, addressing some of the bugs created by the game’s V0.9 Early Access build.

The first major hiccup addressed is the reintroduction of the previous build’s AI code, which developer Kunos Simulazioni apparently said got ‘mixed with incompatible experimental code’. Our recent patchy experiences with the game’s AI suggest this is a key area to fix in future builds.

Other minor fixes have also been implemented, including a Mazda RX-7 audio issue, with a ‘special livery’ added for the Mk.8 Volkswagen Golf R.

Perhaps the biggest innovation for V0.91 is the introduction of TrackIR support. TrackIR is essentially a head-tracking system that lets players see through corners as they would in real-world driving (think a more natural version of the old ‘look-to-apex’ setting in older sims).

Using a monitor-mounted, infrared-sensing camera, TrackIR picks up the full gamut of head movement: up, down, left, right, forwards, backwards and horizontal tilting. In terms of performance, it’s much less resource-intensive than a VR headset and much more comfortable, while still offering the advantage of increased peripheral vision.
