  • Audi R8 LMS GT2, Audi R8 V10 Performance quattro and Mazda RX-7 FD Spirit R (Type A) are coming to AC EVO’s V0.9 update.
  • Further information about V0.9, plus a release window, has not been revealed

Three new cars have been revealed for Assetto Corsa EVO’s upcoming V0.9 update, with the

Audi R8 LMS GT2, Audi R8 V10 Performance quattro and Mazda RX-7 FD Spirit R (Type A) all set for inclusion.

No further details on the contents of V0.8 have been revealed, with fans no doubt eager to hear more information about the game’s much-anticipated free-roam mode – even more so since AC EVO’s economy-based career system was unceremoniously ditched.

However, developer Kunos Simulazioni has instead rolled out early modding tools and opened the game’s servers to let players host their own online races in recompense, with further improvements to VR, AI, and game stability expected.

Audi R8 LMS GT2

The Audi R8 LMS GT2 was designed to be raced by gentleman drivers in the SRO’s GT2 European Series (series promoter Stephane Ratel himself races in the championship).

Just like the AC EVO’s incumbent Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport Evo, KTM X-Bow GT2, Mercedes-AMG GT2 and Porsche 935, the Audi produces between 600-700 bhp and features less aerodynamic grip than more professional-focused GT3 cars.

Launched in 2020, the Audi has a piercing 5.2-litre V10 exhaust note and a typically muscular bodykit.

Audi R8 V10 Performance quattro

A decidedly less track-focused car than the LMS GT2, the Audi R8 V10 Performance quattro retains the same sweet 5.2-litre V10 motor as its racier counterpart, mated to a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox.

Its quattro all-wheel-drive system helps control its 600 bhp+ output, with the car becoming the final mainline version of the R8 after its discontinuation in 2024.

Mazda RX-7 FD Spirit R (Type A)

Perhaps the most eagerly anticipated of V0.9’s cars, the Mazda RX-7 FD Spirit R (Type A) is considered to be the pinnacle of the Japanese firm’s rotary-powered road cars.

Released in 2002, the FD Spirit R produces around 290 bhp from its high-revving Wankel engine with an 8,000 RPM redline, and has the handling chops to match its power.

The car’s legendary status is thanks in part to its appearance in the Gran Turismo series, with players of a certain age now eager to buy their favoured virtual rides at a significant premium (presumably alongside shares in various engine oil suppliers, too).

Two months since the game’s V0.8 update, we’re led to believe AC EVO’s V0.9 update is to be unveiled imminently, although a firm release date has not been revealed.
