Following a race-winning 2021 Britcar season in a Praga R1, sim racing content creator and FIAGTC commentator Jimmy Broadbent will be joined by Gordie Mutch for the 2022 Praga Cup.
In 2021, Broadbent was awarded Britcar Rookie of the Year and was partnered with Jem Hepworth for most of the season, before partnering with Gordie Mutch to collect two race wins at the final Donington Park round.
A protegé of Romain Grosjean’s eponymous R8G Esports squad, alongside sim racing activities Mutch has previously competed in the Junior Saloon Car Challenge and Ginetta GT5 Challenge series.
A new championship for this season, the Praga Cup is a one-make competition run in partnership with Britcar Endurance. There will be six UK-based championship rounds starting 12th March, including Silverstone and Oulton Park, plus one non-championship European race weekend, with all competitors behind the wheel of an R1.
“I’m really excited to be continuing with Praga. I finished this season with two wins at Donington just as I was hitting my stride, so I can’t wait to be back in the R1 to build on everything I learned and keep improving to bring home more silverware,” said Broadbent after the earlier announcement of his deal.
Today’s news now solidifies the driver pairing for the 2022 season, and the duo will be aiming to replicate their 2021 success.
