Originally slated for a 2024 release window, JDM: Japanese Drift Master will now be made available in Spring 2025, according to developer Gaming Factory.

The Polish studio has made solid progress on the classic drift-infused title, releasing a hefty prologue game, JDM: Rise of the Scorpion, as well as signing licensing deals with Mazda, Subaru and Nissan.

However, despite the delay Gaming Factory has released a new trailer for the game, showcasing a new location, Ichikara. Unlike the previously revealed Haikama Lake, which is set in the beautiful rolling hills of Japan, Ichikara is closer in appearance to Tokyo, featuring skyscrapers, neon lights and wide expressways.

The stars of the trailer, a Mazda RX-7 and Mazda Miata, are impressively rendered, although it’s unclear whether the footage is in-engine or in-game.

JDM will have an interesting manga-style story mode on release, with at least 40 main missions to tackle alongside numerous side quests. Its open world is inspired by real-world Japanese locations, featuring over 250 Km of roads with diverse topography.

Players will be able to tune and customise their cars, with the roster currently including an officially licensed R34 Nissan  Skyline GT-R V⋅spec II, as well as other recognisable – yet unlicensed – models.

Players will have to wait a little bit longer before receiving the full JDM drift experience but can at least console themselves by playing JDM: Rise of the Scorpio, which is available for free on Steam right now.
