The BMW M Hybrid V8 race car has undergone an evolution for the real-world 2026 series, be that in the FIA World Endurance Championship or the IMSA SportsCar Championship.
As it competes in both competitions, this is known as an LMDh machine for the FIA competition and a GTP in the American series.
iRacing will launch this new ‘Evo’ upgrade with its Series 3 2026 update later this month, and has released the first look at the machine.
For this season, the major change is the front aerodynamic and cooling setup, with a much more pronounced splitter and a different shape to its kodnbey grille. There are also subtle tweaks to the lights, including yellow accents.
In the IMSA competition, so far this season, the car has secured three podium finishes.
In a recent development blog, iRacing said this modification is part of “efforts to modernise the GTP fleet.”
This car update will be added for no further charge to those who already own the existing version on iRacing when the update arrives on 9th June. It will be joined by its G87-generation M2 Racing sibling.
