Hot Wheels Unleashed has sold over one million copies

We’re huge fans of Hot Wheels Unleashed, recently proclaiming that it’s “the very best game Italian developer Milestone has ever made.” Now it seems gamers agree too, with over one million units sold to date.

That’s a huge achievement for the teams at Milestone, Koch Media and Mattel. Hot Wheels Unleashed was released in September, and since then has been drowned in plaudits and DLC.

“Ever since we announced Hot Wheels Unleashed back in February, we’ve received thousands of heartfelt messages from fans,” said Luisa Bixio, CEO of Milestone. “This milestone is the umpteenth display of affection from our passionate community.”

When we spoke to Lead Game Designer, Federico Cardini, earlier this year, he explained the groundwork that had gone into making the game a success.

“It has been something behind the scenes for some years. An opportunity came around with Mattel and Hot Wheels in 2018. It was a really unexpected, but happy surprise for us.”
