EA is shutting down GRID Legends’ online servers on PlayStation and Xbox over four years after its launch.
EA’s Online Services Shutdown page confirms that online features in Codemasters’ arcade racer will no longer function on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One from 11th September.
“We have taken the decision to retire online services in GRID Legends for this platform,” a notice reads on the PlayStation Store.
“On this date, cross-platform play, online multiplayer modes, Quick Race, Dynamic Events, leaderboards, and other features that require an online connection will no longer be available to play in GRID Legends.”
However, the single-player story campaign featuring live-action cut scenes will remain playable after the server shutdown.
GRID Legends was also ported to Switch 2 earlier this year, with a Deluxe Edition bundling the post-launch DLC expansions. This version doesn’t include online multiplayer, however.
EA has not yet confirmed if the Steam version will be taken offline or if the game will be delisted from digital stores.
Released in 2022, GRID Legends is an arcade-style racer featuring multiple disciplines, from open wheelers to muscle cars and stadium trucks.
Alongside a standard career mode, the Driven to Glory story mode features live-action cut scenes with actors including Doctor Who’s Ncuti Gatwa, who plays race driver Valentin Manzi.
