While there is no shortage of recommendable Nintendo Switch 2 racing games early in its life, none of them let you drive licensed cars. This is set to change next year, however.

Gear.Club Unlimited 3 is set to arrive in February 2026, and now GRID Legends is getting a surprise Switch 2 release early next year.

Arriving four years after its initial PC and console release, the Switch 2 version of GRID Legends is being handled by Feral Interactive, a studio that specialises in mobile and Switch ports. It also developed the mobile port of GRID Legends released in 2022.

The Switch 2 port will include optimisation modes prioritising visual quality or performance, as well as balanced and battery saver modes for handheld players.

Like the mobile version, the Switch 2 game will be released as a Digital Deluxe edition containing all previously released DLC, including the destruction derby-themed Classic Car-Nage, Drift and Endurance modes, new career and story events, and additional cars and tracks.

The Switch 2 port marks the first GRID game on a Nintendo platform since Feral ported GRID Autosport (GRID Legends’ last-generation predecessor) to the original Switch in 2019.

Originally released in 2022, GRID Legends features a multi-chapter ‘Driven to Glory’ story mode with live action cut scenes starring actors including Doctor Who’s Ncuti Gatwa, as well as a variety of motorsport disciplines from muscle cars to open wheelers and trucks.

There’s no release date yet, but GRID Legends Deluxe Edition is set to arrive on Switch 2 in early 2026, priced at £24.99 / €29,99 / $39.99.
