We head to Brazil in this fortnight’s Gran Turismo 7 Lap Time Challenge, as we tackle São Paulo’s Interlagos in the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R.
GT7‘s Lap Time Challenge is a time trial mode where you compete against other players to set the fastest time on the leaderboard. However, there’s a caveat: setting a lap within three per cent of the fastest time nets players 2,000,000 Credits.
If you aren’t quite quick enough for that then lapping within five per cent gains you 1,000,000 Credits, while a time inside 10 per cent of the fastest results in a 250,000 Credit payout.

This is the second time GT7’s Lap Time Challenge has visited Brazil’s venue for its Formula 1 Grand Prix. Our car of choice last time was the Gr.2 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT500 ‘16 but on this occasion, the mandatory pick is another Nissan – the R34 Skyline.
The R34 is notable for being the last Nissan produced with the Skyline moniker, subsequently being replaced by the long-lived R35 GT-R, which was produced between 2008-2022. The R34’s ‘Nür’ tag relates to its development period on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. It featured bigger twin-turbochargers over the standard edition, leading to a power output of over 330bhp.
The R34 retained the Skyline model line’s innate agility too – not that you will see many of them on the road these days, as their value has exploded in recent times. Some lower-mileage examples can fetch close to £250,000 today…
