The wait for Forza Horizon 6 is over, and as ever with a game in this series, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of hidden items to find.
Perhaps some of the most sought-after collectables are the Barn Finds, and compared to past Horizon games, there’s more to it this time in order to earn those hidden vehicles.
Here’s how to find them – and yes, fair warning, this guide includes spoilers. It’s a Barn Finds guide, we spoil the Barn Finds…
What is a Barn Find?
In Forza Horizon 6, a Barn Find is a hidden vehicle located within a dusty building. It will be in a state of abandonment, and is a model that generally cannot be obtained through any other means in-game.
Its location is disguised until a certain game progression is met. At this point, a large purple dot appears on the map of Japan. Drive around in this purple area to find the requisite barn and the encased car.
As you approach the right building, a cutscene will be triggered featuring your character opening the doors, signifying you’re in the right place.
What happens once you have discovered a Barn Find car?
Once you’ve found a Barn Find vehicle, the building changes into a Gift Drop location for sending and receiving cars from online players, plus the marking on the map changes to signify your completed task.
You then must wait for a ‘restoration’ to be completed as you play through the rest of the game. Once done, you’ll be notified within the ‘cars’ menu of the pause screen. Collect your car, and it’s ready to drive.
Don’t forget, you earn 5,000 XP too for each discovered barn.
How to unlock Barn Finds
In Forza Horizon 6, Barn Finds appear on the map through completing the Horizon Journal, with more appearing each time to receive a stamp.
This is tied to the journal progression, so for each stamp (there are seven in total), a handful of Barn Finds will then appear on the map with an introductory ‘cut scene’ of sorts. Journal stamps are earned by completing tasks, such as finding items, smashing XP boards and completing events – all are listed in the journal.
Word of warning, the later cars on the list, if you don’t have the requisite stamps, even if you drive to the barn, you will not be able to unlock that car. With Horizon 6 trying to have a greater sense of progression, you really must earn these vehicles (and then look at this guide to find them).
Tip – don’t forget drone mode
Now, you can drive around inside the large purple dot on the map and mini-map, keep your eyes peeled for a small gravel track leading to a building. But, you can also enter the dedicated drone to fly around and spot the building. Once discovered, drive to it in your car to trigger the discovery sequence.
To activate drone mode, simply pause the game, go to the My Horizon tab, and select… drone mode. Simply use the analogue sticks to look and fly around.
Tip – Fast travel
Fast travel in Forza Horizon 6 is readily available and free, so make the most of it. You can only use it on roads you’ve already driven, but it’s a time-saver if you’re following this guide.
How many Barn Find cars are there in Forza Horizon 6?
There are 15 Barn Finds in Forza Horizon 6.
Honda NSX-R GT 2005
Region: Ohtani Journal stamps required: 1
To collect your first Barn Find car, head north of the main Tokyo area, and follow the main road north of Mei’s House you own.
There’s a very tight right-handed hairpin, and then soon after, a 90-degree left. Keep following the road and when it next turns right, head instead through the trees until you meet the next gravel road. Shooting off from this, and now facing south, is a smaller gravel driveway.
Simply follow this path and you’ll find the barn where your NSX awaits.
Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 1987
Region: Ito Journal stamps required: 2
Next up, the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500. This powerful 1980s homologation special is located in the Ito region, southeast of the map. West of the Sekibe Circuit, south of Inakadate Tanbo Rice Art and just below a Road Racing evening call Satta Sprint, there is a crossroads.
Head south past there and before you hit a 90-degree right turn, on the right, is a break in the barrier and a small gravel pathway. Enter here, follow the gravel as it twists and rises, before revealing the barn.
Toyota 2000GT 1969
Region: Ito Journal stamps required: 2
This svelte Toyota 2000GT is hidden within the Ito region, right on the coast. Just below the Ine Beach Speed Trap, there’s a dirt road (dotted line) heading towards the ocean, near the train tracks.
About halfway down this, there’s a pathway off to the left within the trees, not the one before the trees. You will then find the elusive barn.
Nissan Pao 1989
Region: Minamino Journal stamps required: 3
From a quick car to a very sloooow car, the Nissan Pao is in the Minamino region, south of the Ruriko-Ji Temple. Drive on the gravel road that heads south of said temple, straight ahead at a crossroads, and keep following as it gently winds.
Right at a speed camera, or speed zone, you will find… another smaller, gravel road. Follow this down until you meet the barn and the diminutive Nissan.
Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R 1971
Region: Nangan Journal stamps required: 3
Next up, in the Nangan region, southwest of the map and not really near anything else, is a Nissan Skyline. Just below a Road Racing event called Coastline Sprint, and to the left of an extremely twisting road is a fence gap and a dusty track.
Just after you enter this route, there’s a fork – take the option on the left. Follow the track until the elusive barn appears and the cut scene triggers.
Nissan #23 Pennzoil NISMO Skyline GT-R 1998
Region: Takashiro Journal stamps required: 4
Now, for the next four cars, you’ll need to have reached the fourth journal stamp. Starting in the Takashiro region is this racing-liveried Nissan Skyline GT-R. Yes, another Nissan.
At the rest of the region, just above the Prologue mission, is a distinct hairpin turn. If you take that as a left-hander, and then continue west down the road, you will come across what looks like a medium-sized brown building, with a large gravel car park. There’s a mascot here, too.
When looking at the front of the building, to its left is a gravel driveway. Follow this, through dips and dives, switchback hairpins, and then, as if by magic, will be the barn you’re looking for.
Lincoln Continental 1962
Region: Hokubu Journal stamps required: 4
Over in Hokubu, there’s a collection of multi-coloured flower fields, and right in the middle is a crossroads. One road is dirt, one is asphalt. Drive on the dirt road heading west, across this intersection.
The gravel route will slightly rise and then fall, and as it does, there is a group of trees on the left. You can actually see the barn from here if you look closely, but on the left, there is another gravel road that will lead you to the 1962 Lincoln Continental.
Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3 1982
Region: Ohtani Journal stamps required: 4
Northwest of the main Tokyo city in the Ohtani region and just below Mei’s House is where you’ll find a classic 1980s Porsche 911.
Once again, look for that opening in the shrubbery, drive down the gravel road, and soon you’ll reach the desired barn.
Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 1984
Region: Shimanoyama Journal stamps required: 4
This next barn find is just north of the stadium. Take the road that spawns from the top of the stadium heading north, along the edge of the map.
There’s a 90-degree right, a 90-degree left, then another 90-right. Just after this, on the left, you’ll see a break in the fence for a driveway entrance. Turn down here and collect the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 from 1984.
Mitsubishi Montero Evolution 1997
Region: Shimanoyama Journal stamps required: 5
In the Shimonoyama region, east of the stadium, the Horizon 6 map is a little sparse when it comes to roads. But there is this oddly shaped stretch of asphalt, with three unique harpins followed by a sweeping left-hander.
Just after this turn, on your right is a gap in the fencing and a gravel drive. Head down it to find this Mitsubishi Montero Evolution.
Lamborghini Diablo SV 1997
Region: Ito Journal stamps required: 5
An old-school Lamborghini Diablo SV is hidden within the western Ito region. It’s near a large split-lane highway bridge across the coast. Instead of crossing that, however, take the smaller road that heads north and keep your eyes peeled for a blue excavator.
There’s a large clearing in the trees, head off the road and down this. A few metres on the right, you’ll spot a small pathway, and the Lambo is hidden down here.
Final two stamps
Right, final four Barn Finds now, but fair warning, you can’t even find these until you have six or seven stamps in the journal, which is a significant playtime through the game.
Mitsubishi #1 Sierra Enterprises Lancer Evolution 2005
Region: Shimanoyama Journal stamps required: Final two
A heavily modified Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution lurks inside a barn in the east of the map. Find the Narai-Juku label, very near the Peugeot’s location earlier in this guide. Follow that same road westbound and you’ll find a village. There’s a Road Racing event here, too.
At the top of the village, there is a dirt road. Head down this, and just after a tight right turn, you’ll see a fork. Head this way to collect the tuned saloon.
Nissan #11 Tomica Skyline Turbo Super Silhouette 1983
Region: Ito Journal stamps required: Final two
A boxy beast is nestled in the Ito region, not far from the Lamborghini mentioned earlier in this guide.
Scroll to the area where the Kitayama Big Daisugi is labelled on the map, near the east coast. Directly below this location label is a dirt road, and just below the area’s icon (a group of trees), on said dirt road, is a small gravel path.
Turn down here, find the barn, and the Nissan Tomica Skyline Turbo Super Silhouette will soon be yours.
Mazda 787B #55 1991
Region: Takashiro Journal stamps required: Final two
This one is a little tricky. In the Takashiro region, look for the location label that reads Soni Circuit. Up a little and to the left is a dirt road with a ‘U’ shape. You may also see a Team Farm Speed Zone depending on your progress.
If you look at the ‘U’ shaped road, drive up the right side of it, heading north and then spot a small gravel turning on the right. Follow this path to find the ear-shattering Mazda 787B Le Mans winner.
Nissan R390 (GT1) 1998
Region: Ohtani Region Stamps: Final two
Spot the Matsumi Great Bridge badge on the map, in the southwest of the Ohtani region, and just above it is a long dirt road. This path actually intersects with the Shimonoyama region too, so this is right on the border.
Above this gravel road on the map is a road, and just after a T-junction, there’s a Trailblazer Start Gate. Right here is a gravel driveway, and it’s along this route that a Nissan R390 is hidden.
