Forza Horizon 5’s theme for the month ahead is hot, shiny, new metal. No vintage racers or concours-ready classic.

We’re taking electric sports cars and hot hatches when Modern Horizons arrives in-game for PC and Xbox.

The free update will see a host of new festival playlist challenges, the completion of which can be used to unlock five new cars across a four-week period.

These will be joined by an optional paid downloadable content pack, also called Modern Horizons, which delivers a further five cars from movies and TV shows.

Yet another Hyundai N performance car will be added to Forza Horizon 5, with the enthusiast-orientated Ioniq 5 N. The electric performance hatch, with its track modes and even simulated gearshifts, can be unlocked by earning 20 points in the autumn/storm season challenges.

Another speedy Korean BEV, based on the same platform as the Ioniq 5 N but detuned, is one of the overall series rewards. The Kia EV6 GT (2023) is yours for 80 points.

Aside from the shocking electric cars, another variant of the S650 Ford Mustang will be available for 20 points during the summer/wet season week. The Dark Horse is the more track-focused derivation. Still with a 5-litre V8, but this time paired with an aggressive aero kit. Not to be confused with the GT, which arrived in March.

These three are joined by the Toyota GR Yaris hot hatch, with its buzzy three-cylinder engine and rally-bred four-wheel-drive system. Once again, 20 points, this time in winter/dry season.

Finally, in terms of free unlockable rides, the wagon (or Cross Turismo) version of the electric Porsche Taycan can be unlocked for 20 points during the spring/hot season.

The new festival playlist begins on Thursday 20th June and before then, a game patch will be released.

  • Kia EV6 GT – Modern Horizons Series Playlist Reward, 80 points
  • Ford Mustang S650 Dark Horse – Modern Horizons Playlist Reward, Summer/Wet Season, 20 points
  • Hyundai Ioniq 5 N – Modern Horizons Playlist Reward, Autumn/Storm Season, 20 points
  • Toyota GR Yaris – Modern Horizons Playlist Reward, Winter/Dry Season, 20 points
  • Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo – Modern Horizons Playlist Reward, Spring/Hot Season, 20 points

Universal film car DLC

Now onto the paid DLC pack, which is separate from the unloackable festival playlist cars. This month, it is themed around vehicles within Universal movies.

While the DeLorean DMC-12 is already part of the game’s roster, one closely resembling the Flux Capacitor’s home from the Back To The Future films is part of the pack.

Not once, but… three times. You see, there is one per film in the franchise.

The trio will be joined by the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (or KITT) from 1980s TV show Knight Rider – complete with the front-mounted LED light strip and futuristic dashboard, and a Jeep Wrangler from a Jurassic Park film.

This will be available 18th June for $9.99/€9.99/£7.99.

  • Jeep Wrangler from Jurassic Park
  • Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (KITT) from Knight Rider
  • DeLorean DMC-12 from Back To The Future
  • DeLorean DMC-12 from Back To The Future Part II
  • DeLorean DMC-12 from Back To The Future Part III
