Forza Horizon 5's June Festival Playlist 'Explore The Horizon' features Pathfinder challenges

The 21st Festival Playlist for Forza Horizon 5 is overlanding themed, as Explore The Horizon takes center stage this Thursday (25th May). Time to get your camping on, as the festival explores the wilderness found in the virtual Mexican frontier.

Six new cars have been added to the fold, four of which can be obtained through the Festival Playlist. The other two of them will be gifted to every Forza Horizon 5 player.

On Monday (22nd May), Forza Monthly went live and detailed everything in store for the upcoming Festival, including new cars, new features, and of course, all the events and challenges to get into for the next four weeks which starts later this week.

NEW CARS COMING TO FORZA HORIZON 5

There are a total of six new cars coming to Forza Horizon 5 this time around. Four will once again be available to unlock by collecting a mere 20 PTS in each respective season, as it was in the 19th and 20th Festival Playlists.

  • 2019 DeBerti Ford Super Duty F-150 Lariat “Transformer” (20 PTS in Week 1 – Summer)
  • 1986 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat (20 PTS in Week 2 – Autumn)
  • 1972 Chevrolet K-10 Custom (20 PTS in Week 3 – Winter)
  • 2022 GMC HUMMER EV Pickup (20 PTS in Week 4 – Spring)

As for the other two, they will be gifted to all players through the message system. They are both from the under the Cupra banner, and players can add them through the gifts tab in messages.

  • 2021 Cupra Formentor VZ5
  • 2022 Cupra Tavascan Concept

PHOTO MODE ENHANCEMENTS

OVERLANDING THEME ADDS NEW BODY KITS

A total of 17 vehicles will have the capability to modify on overlanding themed accessories. The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum was the first to have it, back when the Rally Adventures expansion was released.

The mods are in the Car Customization area, and while you’d think they’d be purely cosmetic, adding them on will affect the stats on the car. This is the official list of vehicles that will have these mods starting on Thursday.

  • 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum* (had mod previously)
  • 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2

FORZA HORIZON 5, EXPLORE THE HORIZON, SERIES REWARDS

A pair of ‘rare’ cars are the overall Series Rewards for this June Festival, Explore The Horizon.

By collecting 80 PTS, a ‘hard to find’ Wuling Sunshine, which looks like it is the perfect overlanding machine, can be unlocked. With 68 PTS on the line every week, this could be an easy get early on.

The big prize at 160 PTS this go around is the 2021 Audi RS 7, another ‘hard to find’ vehicle.

FORZA HORIZON 5, EXPLORE THE HORIZON, SUMMER

The first week of the Explore The Horizons festival takes place in the “Wet Season”, a.k.a. Summer. 68 PTS are up for grabs and by collecting a good chunk of them, you can unlock some awesome cars, either by completing the challenges or earning PTS from completing challenges.

For example, at 20 PTS, the all-new, ‘epic’ and ‘exclusive’ DeBerti Ford F-250 can be unlocked. Double that amount of PTS and you’ll have yourself another ‘epic’ ride in the ‘hard to find’ Porsche Macan RR.

There is a #FORZATHON Weekly Challenge as well as multiple Daily Challenges, each worth some PTS. The Weekly will need you to jump into a 1972 Land Rover Series III to complete.

The Trial, Ad-Van-Ture Time, gives the most PTS out of any event of the season, 10 PTS, but it is only available for those who have entered the Horizon Hall of Fame. If you can complete it, you can also unlock an ‘epic’ Lamborghini LM 002.

A ‘common’ AMG Hammer Coupe is the reward for completing this week’s Eventlab, and a ‘common’ Nissan Titan is unlocked for completing a Showcase Remix of “Splash of the Titans”.

In the Seasonal Championships, a ‘common’ 2020 Land Rover Defender and a ‘legendary’ clothing reward, the Cupra Race Suit, are rewarded here along with 5 PTS a piece. There are but two PR Stunts, each worth 2 PTS to complete, and each with a Super Wheelspin to obtain.

The first week offers the first Treasure Hunt, “The Pathfinder Challenge”, and if you find the chest, you’ll also find 250,000 Credits. More on what in the world a Pathfinder is below the weekly recaps.

This week’s #DONKEY Photo Challenge is about taking a picture of the wildlife as opposed to the car. The ‘common” Forza Link Reward of DONKEY!! is unlocked by doing so per the instructions.

Each week will feature different collectibles to smash. This week happens to be about the Wolf.

FORZA HORIZON 5, EXPLORE THE HORIZON, AUTUMN

The “Storm Season” is the second week, which is Autumn, and as usual, there are another 68 PTS to collect over the week. For 20 PTS, the new, ‘exclusive’ yet ‘common’ 1986 Ford F-150 is unlocked. A more ‘rare’ and ‘hard to find’ Extreme E machine for the #44 Vida Carbon Racing team is unlocked at 40 PTS.

If you own or can purchase the 2017 Ram 2500 Power Wagon, and you have a heart like a truck, the #FORZATHON Weekly Challenge will be right up your alley. Some Photo Mode challenges await in the Dailies.

This week’s The Trial is “OOH, BARRANCA” and I think that would have been better if there were a Plymouth Barracuda involved. Regardless, by completing, there’s an ‘epic’ Bentley Bentayga available to collect.

The Eventlab this week offers up a ‘rare’ 1970 Ford GT70. Another ‘rare’ Ford is available to own by completing the second Seasonal Championship, that being a 1973 Ford Escort. The first Seasonal championship provides a ‘common’ Maserati (that sentence just doesn’t make sense) in the form of a Maserati Levante.

Oh yeah, two Super Wheelspins are up for grabs by completing the two PR Stunts.

Another Treasure Hunt this week, in fact each week will have one, but they will all be through this Pathfinder challenge that’s being introduced this Festival.

The #BIGHORN Photo Challenge is again about getting that wildlife framed just right. There’s another Forza Link Reward to claim here. The Eliminator is a chance to earn two PTS and score a ‘common’ BMW X5 M. Finally, there’s Flamingos this week to smash in Collectibles.

FORZA HORIZON 5, EXPLORE THE HORIZON, WINTER

Moving into the Winter week, the “Dry Season” as it’s referred to, once more there are some neat vehicles to jump into.

At 20 PTS, the new, ‘exclusive’ and ‘common’ 1972 Chevrolet K10 can be unlocked. At 40 PTS, Hot Wheels fans might know this ‘legendary’ and ‘hard to find’ Rip Rod that is the prize.

This week’s #FORZATHON Weekly Challenge needs you to have a 2011 BMW X5 M. Wasn’t that a reward in the last week? Also, more Photo Mode challenges are available in the Daily Challenges.

More to PlayGround Studios’ regularly schedule puns, Bucking Broncos is The Trial this week and the #2069 Bronco R, an ‘epic’ reward, is unlocked alongside 10 PTS. The Eventlab this week offers the Plymouth Barracuda though. Who messed this one up?

Two Super Wheelspins for two PR Stunts and a Horizon Tour Co-Op for 3 PTS are on the table in the Winter, but two ‘common’ cars in the 2005 Subaru WRX and the 2014 Jeep Cherokee are available to unlock here.

Another Treasure Hunt, another Pathfinder challenge. Again, the prize is 250,000 Credits. #STREETDOG is the Photo Challenge and you’ll again need to snap some wildlife into your photos at the designated area.

COUNTRY ROADS! TAKE ME HOME! That’s the name of the Horizon Open challenge which offers a ‘legendary’ clothing option. The Collectibles challenge also offers a ‘legendary’ clothing option, and it’s back to better puns with Car-Madillos asking to smash some armadillos.

FORZA HORIZON 5, EXPLORE THE HORIZON, SPRING

The final week of Explore the horizon is the Spring “Hot Season” which has a really big boy as the new vehicle to unlock.

For 20 PTS, the HUMMER EV Truck, an ‘epic’ exclusive, is yours to drive. This thing is massive. A more ‘common’ yet ‘hard to find’ Morris Traveller is the reward for collecting 40 PTS.

Speaking of Hummers, the 2006 HUMMER H1 Alpha is needed to take on this week’s #FORZATHON Weekly Challenge. There are Daily Challenges to take on as usual as well.

In The Trial, you’ll be “Kicking Up Mud” as you race to win 10 PTS and the ‘epic’ Mini JCW Buggy. The Eventlab offers up a ‘rare’ Mercedes-Benz 190E, and the Seasonal Playground Games, Geo-Crashing, offers up a ‘common’ Dodge Durango.

Two more Super Wheelspins exist for the two PR Stunts, but there there are two ‘rare’ cars to collect in the Seasonal Championships. The Land Rover Velar and the Hummer H1 are both collected here.

The final Treasure Hunt is “H Marks The Spot” and for one last time in the season, you’ll have to take on whatever this Pathfinder challenge is. More on that just below.

#FLUTTERBY is the Photo Challenge, once again asking of wildlife photography. A 2015 Range Rover is on the line for finishing 30th or better in The Eliminator. Finally, this week’s Collectibles are Donkeys.

TREASURE HUNTS BECOME PATHFINDER CHALLENGES

So, the Treasure Hunts this month are going to look a little different than before. While the end goal is to find the Treasure Chest and smash it wide open, the path to get there is found to be a bit more intricate.

Each season will have three to complete to find the treasure. The first path will be marked, but the second and third will have to be found by clues found through the Accolade system. When the first path is complete, a new accolade will be available to complete. In there, you’ll find a clue as to where to find the path.

Basically, there are balloons, and you follow them to the end. Once you’ve done that three times, the final path leads you to a chest. Interesting!

NEW ACCOLADES

With the new Pathfinder challenges and the enhanced Photo Mode, there are also some new accolades to take on in your Horizon play through. Both offer a number of Career Points and rewards for completion.
