In a surprise move, Forza Horizon 5, previously a PC and Xbox exclusive, was ported to PlayStation 5 at the end of last month. Now, Sony has published April’s best-selling games on the PlayStation Store, and Forza Horizon 5 raced to the top of the charts in Europe.
That places it above The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Minecraft. Tellingly, this means the top three most downloaded PS5 games in April were all published by Xbox Game Studios, as Microsoft brings more of its first-party games to other platforms.
In the US, Forza Horizon 5 was the third on the podium last month, followed by Minecraft and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Exact sales figures are unknown. However, player numbers spotted on ResetEra suggest that nearly 700,000 new players joined Forza Horizon 5 at launch on the PS5, and this number has likely increased since then.
Considering this is the first time a Forza game has come to PlayStation, Forza Horizon 5 was always going to be a massive hit on PS5. Even so, it’s an impressive achievement for a game that’s over three years old.
Forza Horizon 5’s PS5 port was developed by Panic Button, which also enhanced Forza Horizon 4 for Xbox Series X|S and ported games like Doom for the Nintendo Switch, in partnership with Playground Games and Turn 10.

Forza Horizon 5 won’t be the last Microsoft game to make the jump to PS5, either. Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the classic 2006 third-person shooter originally released on Xbox 360, was announced this week, with a PS5 release slated for August 2025.
