The team behind the upcoming Formula Retro Racing: World Tour is now looking to expand the game’s reach by starting a Kickstarter funding campaign.
Originally scheduled for a December 2022 release, the retro-infused racer was then shifted to 2023. Developers Repixel8 and CGA Games will launch a Kickstarter to expand its scope, by adding online multiplayer, extra content with community suggestions in mind and the game’s virtual reality mode.
The goal is quite modest, at just £10,000 ($12,369 / €11,423).
Those who back the project will be offered several tiers, with a digital copy of the game, direct input on circuit design and a physical copy for either PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 or the Nintendo Switch available.
We went hands-on with Formula Retro Racing: World Tour last year, and even in its formative stages, were drawn in by its 4K visuals and smooth 60fps gameplay.
“Being a massive fan of arcade racers since the ’90s, it’s amazing to be able to recreate the classic racing experience on World Tour,” said Andrew Jeffreys, Repixel8 Director.
“We’ve had loads of fantastic feedback so far throughout development and are looking forward to engaging with fans to make this the ultimate retro arcade racing game.”
The Kickstarter campaign will be launched on 1st February 2023.
