Formula 1 racing has been depicted in Hollywood films before, from Ron Howard’s Rush to John Frankenheimer’s 1966 classic Grand Prix.

However, this year sees the first official F1-branded movie, simply titled “F1” or “F1: The Movie”, hit the big screen starring Brad Pitt, who plays an egotistical veteran driver racing for the fictional APXGP team alongside his rookie teammate. It sounds a lot like a live-action version of a Braking Point story.

Directed by Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski and produced by Lewis Hamilton, the racing action looks visceral, with the trailers featuring cameos from real-world drivers including Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz, who was still racing for Ferrari at the time of filming.

F1 25 will let you relive key moments from the F1 movie, driving the APXGP hero car in six playable scenarios inspired by the film. Each scenario will blend cinematics from the film with on-track gameplay and objectives to complete, depending on the driver you play as.

Set in Silverstone, the first scenario will be available in both the Standard and Iconic Edition. Additional scenarios featuring race weekends at Monza, Zandvoort, Mexico, Spa and Abu Dhabi will be a pre-order bonus for the Iconic Edition, or sold as a separate DLC pack for the Standard Edition.

However, the F1 movie chapter scenarios won’t be playable in F1 25 until 30th June to avoid spoiling key scenes before the film’s theatrical release. You’ll also be able to race as the AXGP team in the Driver Career and My Team modes.

As part of a partnership with Apple Movies, EA Sports branding will appear on the APXGP car throughout the film.

“This partnership is a thrilling example of how EA Sports brings fans into the action, blurring the lines between sport, storytelling and interactive entertainment like no one else can,” said John Reseburg, VP, Brand & Communications for EA Sports.

“As an official APXGP team partner, EA Sports is part of the film’s world – but more importantly, in F1 25, players don’t just watch the story unfold, they can immerse themselves in it. This is F1 like never before.”

F1 25 races onto PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on 30th May, with three days of early access for those who pre-order the Iconic Edition. The F1 movie hits cinemas on 25th June in the US and 27th June internationally.
