Excitebike 64, the motocross-themed racing title first released for the Nintendo 64 back in 2000, is ready to download now on Nintendo Switch for owners of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack.
First teased in September 2022 during a Nintendo Direct presentation, Excitebike 64 brings impressive motorcycle physics to the Switch, with a realistic approach to racing simulation.
That’s not to say the game is always super-serious, however, with an odd minigame in the ‘Special Tracks’ menu obliging players to extinguish campfires with their bikes. Which is completely normal. As is the hilarious, Rocket League forerunner ‘Soccer Mode’.
There are also 30 tricks to master on the jumps and yumps of each supercross-style track, with officially-licenced motorcycle brands like Bell, Shoei and Scott all represented. And the best part is, you can do all this in online and local multiplayer. Just like in the old days!
Excitebike 64 is available for Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack members, with 12-month access costing £34.99 / $49.99 from the Nintendo eShop, where classic racing games such as F-Zero X, Mario Kart 64 and Wave Race 64 can all be played in their entirety.
