When it launched in 2012, the UK was one of the first locations included in Euro Truck Simulator 2. Since then, the popular truck simulator has added more accurate locations, making its recreation of the UK look outdated. Thankfully, Euro Truck Simulator 2’s UK region is getting a long-overdue revamp.
After teasing the update in a video showing how to make a proper cup of tea, SCS Software has revealed the first screenshots of details of Euro Truck Simulator 2’s upcoming UK update.
In a developer blog, SCS Software explains that the UK work has been “in sight for a long time,” but the team had to focus on other projects like reworking Benelux.

Rather than update the existing map, Euro Truck Simulator 2’s UK region is being rebuilt from scratch. “The UK is currently made at a different scale than mainland Europe,” the UK project’s lead said in the blog.
“We are changing it to make it consistent across the game. Which means we’ll be including more detail in a smaller area, which is a challenge in itself. Left-hand traffic also adds another layer of complexity.”
The updated UK map will include “legendary landmarks” like Stonehenge, as well as Leeds, a new city in Euro Truck Simulator 2. New towns and locations will also be added to Scotland, and SCS Software also hints at a potential crossover with the upcoming coach driving mode.

As for when the Uk update, will arrive, there’s no timeframe yet as development is “still in the early stages” according to SCS Software, which adds it will “take time to complete” due to the map’s size.
Hopefully, the UK region update will be ready in time for Euro Truck Simulator 2’s console debut, which is expected to arrive next year at the earliest alongside American Truck Simulator.
