Endurance Motorsport Series clarifies ‘sim‑lite’ physics goal alongside new gameplay

The upcoming circuit racing game isn’t trying to be a simulation, from the off, but does have at least some authenticity to it.

Endurance Motorsport Series clarifies sim‑lite physics goal alongside new gameplay

A fresh Lamborghini-themed trailer for Endurance Motorsport Series showcases the SC63 LMDh/GTP and Huracán GT3.

Before you ask, no, there’s no release date yet for the unique racing title for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. But it’s still on track to release within 2026, after an initial 2025 timeframe.

Created by KT Racing, you not only drive the race car, but manage its strategy from the pitwall, seamlessly and instantly switching from driver to engineer. You can oversee multiple cars in a race, with an emphasis on tyre wear, weather and fuel usage, plus recruiting team members and drivers.

It is set to feature real-world endurance vehicles, plus a mixture of actual and fictional venues.

Alongside the new footage, the creation team has outlined specifically that while it wants those who “enjoy cockpit view and endurance strategy [to] find enough depth”, it isn’t trying to be an out-and-out simulation by design.

“The physics are aimed at players looking for a sim‑lite experience: something clearly more realistic and demanding than an arcade racer, but not as punishing and demanding as a pure hardcore simulator,” explains physics designer on Endurance Motorsport Series, Jérémie Lolieux, in a blog post.

“The physics simulate key elements of real endurance racing such as tyre grip evolution, fuel load impact on handling, suspension behaviour, potential damages or mechanical issues, and aerodynamic downforce at different speeds.”

Alongside the aforementioned cockpit and wheel users, he states that “gamepad players with driving aids enabled can fully enjoy the driving experience of endurance racing.

“The team’s priority was to leverage the KT Engine to deliver believable vehicle behaviour on different tracks and surfaces, while always keeping the experience readable and fun over long stints.

“Finding the right balance between technical simulation (tyres, aero, drivetrain, weather) and accessibility for players with different skill levels and controllers was a core design constraint from the start.”

A full suite of driving assists will be available, and the team explains that each of the three (Hypercar, LMP2 and GT) classes should (as expected) have unique driving characteristics that evolve through an event.

Paul Ricard and Monza teased

As part of the game progress update, seen in publisher Nacon’s News From The Pits showcase, Mozna was seen in the Lamborghini trailer and Paul Ricard was shown in a work-in-progress gameplay state.

These sit alongside previously confirmed venues such as Fuji Speedway and Spa-Francorchamps. A menu also shows fictional venues by the names of Nevada Motor Speedway, Mangaotaki Circuit and Circuito do Galleao.

An Alpine racecar cockpit, Peugeot 9X8 and a Chevrolet Corvette C8 GT3.R are also briefly seen.

Alongside single-player, online multiplayer PvP races (up to 24 drivers) and co-op are also set to be supported, and there was a recent private playtest for this feature.
