With only two weeks left in 2023 iRacing Season 2, Dave Cam’s Zero to Hero series is nearing its end. Last week, Dave took on the official Toyota GR86 series. This week, he’s back in a Toyota GR86, but this time in a multi-class series event.
The Production Car Sim Lab Challenge is a mixed class racing series with four different single-make series, consisting of the Ford Mustang FR500S, the Renault Clio Cup, the Mazda MX-5 Cup and the Toyota GR86. This week, they are taking on the Nürburgring Nordschleife for a three-lap extravaganza.
Truth be told, this wasn’t Dave’s first choice this week. He originally thought the Skip Barber at Watkins Glen International would provide the best racing on the official racing calendar this week. While the racing surely could be good at times up front, it was also very challenging to stay clean from the middle to back of the grid.
That’s what this series is all about though, coming from the back to the front, hence the zero-to-hero title. Dave found the Production Car Challenge to be a success in this format, and even with so many different types of cars on track, you just didn’t know how it was all going to play out at the famed German course.
