Sim racing peripheral manufacturer Cube Controls has launched another steering wheel, and it’s one of the Italian firm’s more budget-friendly options.
Cube Controls, which also designs and builds steering wheels for real-world racecars, has unveiled the lightweight Astra, featuring three separate options.
Built from aluminium with a genuine carbon fibre face plate, the Astra includes 10 backlit buttons, two front encoders, two thumb encoders, two toggle switches and two seven-way switches, with the whole unit attaching to your PC via Cube Controls’ proprietary QConn magnetic system.

The Astra features Cube Controls’ new ELOI System, which integrates its carbon fibre shifter and clutch paddles into one unit, and it’s fully compatible with SimHub too. The wheel weighs just 1150 grams with the hub attached, which Cube Controls suggests makes it the lightest in its class.
The Astra comes in three flavours, with the Premium Blue and Premium Black models providing different colourways as well as metal knobs, a Direct Drive Hub and premium stickers. The Base model, on the other hand, eschews the metal switchgear and hub, but is identical otherwise.
Pre-orders for the Astar open from the 5th of September. Visitors to the Sim Gaming Expo in Chicago can test the new device. Prices are listed below.
