  • Formula Edge adds V10 and V8 variants alongside Formula V12 cars in AMS 2’s new update
  • Formula Hybrid Gen1 adds 2014-era F1 cars
  • Minor physics improvements for several car classes in V1.6.9.5

Two new classes of Formula 1-style cars are in final preparation for release with Automobilista 2’s next update.

Developer Reiza Studios had previously teased theinclusion of an eclectic bunch of motorsport icons during 2026, including Super Tourers, Class 1 DTM machines, Can-Am sports cars, fire-spitting Group 5 monsters and other historical racecars, but the Brazilian team also teased upcoming changes to its range of unlicensed Formula 1 categories.

Formula Edge

In V1.6.9.5, the game’s Formula V12s will be absorbed by Formula Edge, a new class containing three models of early ‘90s-style F1 cars. After the ban on turbochargers, a new breed of naturally aspirated engine regulations took over, with eight, ten, and 12-cylinder engines becoming de rigueur.

We saw 3.5-litre motors from Cosworth, Peugeot, Honda, Ferrari, Renault, Lamborghini and Judd, among others, with extraordinary flat 12 and W12 variations appearing thanks to Subaru and Life, respectively.

For AMS 2, however, there will be V8, V10 and V12 cars only, defined as the following:

  • F-Edge Model 1 – V12 engine
  • F-Edge Model 2 – V10 engine
  • F-Edge Model 3 – V8 engine

Formula Hybrid Gen1

A completely new F1 class will also be added, evoking the first hybrid era, which began in 2014. The F-Hybrid Gen1 will feature over 1,000 bhp and is expected to include all the complicated energy recovery systems you’d expect from this generation of car, including brake migration and MGU-K and MGU-H management.

Other additions

Minor overall physics improvements will arrive for the following classes:

  • LMDh / GTP
  • LMP2 (both gens)
  • GT1
  • 2005 LMP1 / LMP2 / GT1 / GT2
  • P1 (both), P2, P3, P4

The improvements are the culmination of many small tweaks to each category’s aerodynamics, suspension, drivetrains and tyre models, with attention paid to their default setups and force feedback.

Reiza stresses that no major changes have taken place, so if you enjoyed the feel of AMS 2 before, you’ll likely still like it now (and vice-versa).

High downforce configurations for the following cars will also be released in the next update, which will become the default car state for the Azure, Adelaide (both), Buenos Aires 6 & 6S, Cadwell, Curvelo, Laguna Seca, Long Beach, Jerez, Oulton Park, Salvador and Velocittá circuits:

  • F-USA (all)

  • F-Classic (all)
  • F-HiTech (all)
  • F-Edge
