Although Assetto Corsa EVO’s launch day didn’t quite go to plan for Kunos Simualzioni, the Italian studio has been hard at work to rectify its issues.
On launch, the game featured a major bug that prevented players from accessing 14 of the game’s 20 cars, its Driving Academy mode, and the much-vaunted car customisation feature.
The game’s major modes require players to be connected at all times, which has proven to be rather unpopular in the wider gaming community, with EVO’s issue preventing anyone from connecting to Kunos’ servers.
However, Kunos launched a workaround patch to allow players to freely use all 20 cars and has followed up by releasing a further fix to unlock car customisation today (20th January 2025).
The new mode allows players to change their car’s paint colour, wheel style and other exterior items like brake calliper colours and spoilers.
Changeable interior options include gearbox tunnel leather (a Honda S2000 item), stitching colour, seatbelt colour, rollbar colour and new gearboxes, as in the case of the Hyundai i30 N’s base model upgrade DCT upgrade.
Only certain parts can be changed on certain cars at this stage but if you’ve ever fancied fitting rally-ready OZ wheels onto an authentically white Ford Escort RS Cosworth, then now’s your chance.
Sadly, any changes made to a car will be reset when exiting the game, but Kunos has assured players it is working on a fix for the game’s online mode woes.
