The Australian Supercars series (formerly known as ‘V8 Supercars’) hasn’t had its own officially licensed video game since the days of V8 Supercars 3 back in 2006.
Although it was marketed globally as TOCA Race Driver 3 and DTM Race Driver 3 in Germanic regions of Europe, V8 Supercars 3 contained all the cars and tracks of the 2006 season, making it an all-encompassing Supercars game.
A new virtual Supercars experience has now been created, however, using augmented reality (AR) technology to bring the series’ infamous Mount Panorama circuit to life… with the help of Pizza Hut.
Yes, you read that correctly.

As a commercial tie-in with Australia’s ‘Great Race’, Pizza Hut will be delivering Bathurst 1000-themed boxes with a QR code. This allows customers to play a specially-created AR video game, putting them behind the wheel on the Bathurst-based course, calling it ‘Mount Pizzarama’. Groan.
You can also access the game for free via the Mount Pizzarama (double groan) website, and doing well will put you in with a chance of winning Bathurst 1000 goodies, listed below:
- 2x Four-Day General Admission tickets with paddock access
- 2x Course Car Rides
- 2x Grid Walks
- 2x Supercars Merchandise Packs
Needless to say, it’s probably only practical for those living in Australia or New Zealand to enter, but you have until 26th September to do so, with the Bathurst 1000 weekend kicking off on the 9th of October.
Those hoping for an experience similar to V8 Supercars 3 may be left disappointed, however.
I’ve played it so you don’t have to, readers.
