Assetto Corsa Rally is set to receive monthly updates while in Early Access, it has been revealed.

In an official Q&A on the Assetto Corsa Discord channel, Game Director Irvin Zonca revealed that the game’s first significant update will arrive next month and include hardware improvements.

“I’m happy to say that our current plan is to have monthly updates,” stated Zonca.

“We will start in December and then again in January. And with each update, we will introduce a mix of things. So updates may contain new content, new features, improvements, of course, and bug fixes,” he continued.

However, Zonca stressed that his team at Supernova Studios won’t necessarily be bound to a strict schedule.

“Depending on development cycles, we may miss a month. In the future, we don’t know yet, of course, but we may also double up in other months,” he explained, citing that if a monthly update does fall behind schedule, the studio plans to carry its progress forward into the next release.

Controller fixes

Steering wheel users can expect to see fixes for the many peripheral issues found in AC Rally’s v0.1 build in the December update, including solving hardware identification problems. Gamepad users, however, may have to wait a little longer to see big upgrades:

“What we want to do is also improve the input filter for the controllers in order to make it even easier for players that would like to enjoy the game that way,” he answered.

“It’s not possible right now, so we don’t have an ETA for that, but another solution will also be to have an option page or whatever to show some parameters to the players and allow them to fine-tune the parameters as they like,” said Zonca, hinting that AC Rally will feature more in-depth controller options in future builds.

“Also considering that at a certain point in the future we will deploy the game also on consoles and of course… there will be players playing mainly with the game controller,” he concluded.

Although Zonca didn’t reveal the identity of any new content coming in AC Rally’s December update, he did explain that the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 is currently in the works and earmarked for release in the near future, with a ‘wintry mountain road’ also teased, raising hopes of a Monte Carlo-style mixed surface test.
