Assetto Corsa EVO’s multiplayer options detailed ahead of imminent launch

The 0.3 version of the budding sim racing title is expected soon, and before then, the first multiplayer details have been unveiled.

Assetto Corsa EVO’s multiplayer options detailed ahead of imminent launch

The third Assetto Corsa game, EVO, has been going through a tumultuous early access period so far in 2025. Then game the news that the pivotal ‘0.3’ update was delayed, and the decision to announce all the cars in a trailer announced the date shift.

Still, best delay things than release when not in an optimal state, and at last, it seems like the patch is coming soon. A new trailer has been issued, detailing what to expect, and alongside the previously confirmed cars and tracks (listed below), comes online multiplayer.

With EVO’s single-player component seemingly a long way from being compelling, being able to race against others across the network could be a lifeline while we await a completed progression system and free-roam.

For now, drivers will be able to drive in public servers, presumably accessed via an in-sim browser, for free. The range of options to set up a race is not yet public.

“The public servers are free for everyone, available 24/7 with different race scenarios, tracks and weather presets.”

Then, it has been clarified that for those on PC who would like to rent a dedicated server – and therefore be able to host leagues or events with, according to the developers, “fantastic performance” – it will cost “about €1 per driver slot, per month.

During the trailer, a screen shows the following proposed options:

  • Choose your configuration – choose space for the number of drivers and duration, customise
  • €1.57 inc VAT – Select region, space for four drivers, three days runtime, enhanced security services
  • €5.35 inc VAT – Select region, space for four drivers, 30 days runtime, enhanced security services
  • €14.00 inc VAT – Select region, space for four drivers, 90 days runtime, enhanced security services

Unlike with say, the original Assetto Corsa, it is believed PC multiplayer servers for EVO can only be purchased via its own portal, as opposed to going via a third-party. The service is being created and run thanks to partnerships with the Swiss Innovative Arts and Technologies Institute and SimGrid.

It sounds like, on the surface, a very similar server rental process to that seen in Le Mans Ultimate, where SimGrid is also involved in elements of the multiplayer service.

It should also be noted that Marco Massarutto, the Co-founder and studio manager for creators Kunos Simulazioni, states that the service rental will arrive “a few weeks after” its next update.

Ranked multiplayer coming to 0.4

When the fourth major early access update arrives for EVO, it will include… drum roll… a form of native ranked multiplayer system. Or at least, the beginnings of. And when 0.4 is ready is still very much up in the air.

This is what’s billed as a ‘Daily Racing Portal’, which very much looks like a mixture of the existing SimGrid race management website and Le Mans Ultimate’s RaceControl.

Based on this trailer, however, it doesn’t seem as tightly integrated (yet) as Motorsport Games’ title. It looks as if you find and join a race via the website, then copy the server code into the sim. We hope that as the title evolves and reaches consoles, daily races are available directly in-game, as they are in the aforementioned Le Mans Ultimate or Gran Turismo 7, for example.
