Assetto Corsa EVO set for ranked daily races through ‘companion portal’

Assetto Corsa EVO set for ranked daily races through companion portal

Assetto Corsa EVO will receive the most comprehensive native online multiplayer features for an AC title to date thanks to a new partnership with Speed Capital.

The David Perel-founded organisation oversees Coach Dave Academy and The SimGrid – and it’s this latter venture that will be powering a ‘companion portal’.

Traxion understands that the features are not expected for the initial early access launch in January 2025, and consequently, exacting details are not presently available.

On the surface, a driver profile with detailed race stats will be accessible, sounding much like profiles on SimGrid – the existing sim racing community and league management service.

A presentation slide during an ADAC SimRacing Expo panel also confirmed the existence of ‘Daily Racing’. In titles such as Gran Turismo 7, for instance, a daily race is a playlist of set events where drivers are split into races based on a skill ranking factor.

This is something that is not possible directly in Assetto Corsa or Assetto Corsa Competizione. Instead, third-party organisations offer a similar service, such as Low Fuel Motorsport or Simracing.GP.

“We want to create an ecosystem, and we’ll go deeply into [it] across the next weeks in terms of which kind of features you can expect,” said Kunos Co-Founder and Executive Manager Marco Massarutto.

“But the idea is that you never leave EVO.”

“What it really means is that there are more features to come, [and] sooner,” said Steven Worrell, Chief Marketing Officer at Speed Captial.

“We are able to give the [Kunos] guys the freedom to focus on the game development rather than a web portal and website, they can focus on the core game mechanics.”

Non-exclusive features

In the immediacy after the announcement, Traxion was made aware of unrest among the ranked of several sim racing community management companies.

However, Traxion believes that while SimGrid has been employed to create the services, it will be open to other, rival, outlets.

“The idea to cooperate with SimGrid is to take advantage of the skill and experience in this particular area,” continued Massarutto.

“It’s not an exclusive. We want to get the EVO ecosystem open to any kind of activity, leagues and things like this.

“We want to keep everything open for any kind of organisation so that any league or community can organize their own racing events.”
