It would appear that only one more content-adding update is on the way for Assetto Corsa Competizione this year.
Following the release of the highly-anticipated Nürburgring Nordschleife (24-hour) DLC and bonus Ford Mustang GT3, 2024-season GT World Challenge liveries are expected – but anything beyond that remains in doubt.
“With [Assetto Corsa Competizione], we have all the plans confirmed up to and including ‘24,” said developer Kunos Simulazioni Co-founder Marco Massarutto to Multiplayer.it – localised by Traxion.
“We are waiting for the 24 Hours of Spa because there are a whole series of new liveries for the cars to implement and then close the, let’s say, the 2024 season.”
The day-long Belgian race, part of SRO’s GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup and Intercontinental GT Challenge competitions, for which ACC is the official game, runs later this month: 29th-30th June.
It has traditionally been a place to find out the latest Assetto Corsa developments, like when President Stéphane Ratel announced during a press conference GT2 DLC in 2022.
Plans to support the now six-year-old (including early access) Competizione beyond the end of this year are far from guaranteed. The diminutive Kunos development team, around 30 full-time employees, is gearing up to launch its next project – Assetto Corsa Evo – this ‘summer’.
“On ‘25 [ACC support], we don’t give confirmations because at the moment we are completely focused on [Assetto Corsa] Evo,” concluded Massarutto.
The licenced title hit an all-time new record PC peak player count on 1st April 2024, the day the Nürburgring track arrived. The multiplayer community is sustained thanks partly to third-party leagues and ranking systems, such as Low Fuel Motorsport.
