SCS Software’s mission to accurately map the length and breadth of the USA in American Truck Simulator is set to continue, with the Czech studio revealing it is actively working on bringing South Dakota to the game.

South Dakota is famous for the Crazy Horse Memorial, a tribute to the inspirational Native American leader, and is also home to Mount Rushmore, a rock carving depicting four of the US’s most visionary presidents, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

Agriculture dominates the state’s economy, so expect to see plenty of rolling plains and vegetation, with the Black Hills, once home to South Dakota’s 19th-century gold rush, providing some much-needed elevation.

South Dakota is also home to many American Old West heroes, including Wild Bill Hickok, who was a resident of Deadwood at the same time as the famous frontierswoman Calamity Jane, no doubt familiar to fans of the Deadwood TV show.

No release date has been revealed for South Dakota, with ATS set to add Illinois first. Drivable cars have also been teased for a future update.
