Original article

Le Mans Ultimate’s latest DLC plans have been announced, with the first of three European Le Mans Series-themed packs being released on the 23rd of September 2025.

However, alongside the DLC is a hefty game update, bringing the official FIA World Endurance Championship game up to version 1.1.

For many, the headline feature of this update is that the engineer role will be unlocked for the game’s next driver swap test race, but there are a few other interesting additions, too. Check out the key points below.

Driver swap test race #3

LMU’s third driver swap test race has been scheduled for the 3rd, 4th and 5th of October, with the 6 Hours of Fuji mimicking the real-world WEC event, albeit one week later.

Crucially, the engineer role will be unlocked for this event*, allowing teammates to amend their car’s pit strategy on the fly, in a similar vein to iRacing

This should help avoid pit strategy errors, like the one the Traxion team experienced in the last driver swap race at COTA (which could’ve been anyone’s fault, really…).

*This is now no longer this case, see above.

Custom livery improvements

Once v1.1 drops, players will be able to view their custom liveries in offline, single-player sessions as well as online – no entry lists required. Custom numbers will also be implemented at the same time.

However, to run your team’s livery, you or your team owner requires a RaceControl Pro or Pro+ subscription.

LiveryHub

Powered by SimGrid, LMU’s LiveryHub will allow players to upload and share their paint schemes with the community, with each livery searchable thanks to a tagging system.

To access the LiveryHub, you will need a RaceControl Pro or Pro+ subscription.

Regional hosted servers

LMU’s hosted servers have all been based in Europe up to this point; however, with v1.1, new locations in North America and Asia will also be made available.

These will be selectable when creating a hosted server and will once again be provided by sim racing platform, SimGrid, hopefully eliminating any latency issues.

Others

Thanks to the work of community member Xudong, LMU will now have a Simplified Chinese language option in-game. TrackIR, the powerful head-tracking system, will be natively available in LMU after v1.1 drops, providing a less resource-intensive alternative to VR.

Motorsport Games is also planning to implement team endurance races to hosted servers in the next LMU build, so fans can look forward to more driver swap action soon.
