Motorsport Games now finally owns Le Mans Ultimate creator Studio 397

• Motorsport Games purchased Studio 397, the rFactor 2 and Le Mans Ultimate developers, in 2021
• But payments to Luminis, its prior owners, were not complete
• Now the final payment has been sent, all the games, tech and team are wholly owned by MSG

3rd March 2021. That’s when Luminis International B.V. and Technology In Business B.V. announced that Motorsport Games had acquired its Studio 397 subsidiary.

Yet, while terms were agreed for the Dutch sim racing development team to do under the wings of the Miami-headquartered publisher, the complete payment was deferred. Then deferred some more.

Motorsport Games’ financial challenges are well documented in the intervening years, so while it owned Studio 397 and its proprietary (isiMotor 2.5) technology powering rFactor 2 and Le Mans Ultimate, it didn’t actually until these payments were completed.

In February 2025, around one year since Le Mans Ultimate by Studio 397 was released into early access, its new (ish) parent company finally had just enough cash flow to start paying off the outstanding bill. It struck a payment plan with Luminis consisting of five instalments, totalling $750,000.
