Team Redline driver and Max Verstappen protégé Chris Lulham took the biggest win of his fledgling motorsport career over the weekend.

Lulham shared an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVO with teammates Thierry Vermeulen and Harry King at the 24 Hours of Spa, representing the four-time Formula 1 world champion’s Verstappen.com Racing team.

Running in the Gold Cup category for lineups with less experienced drivers, Lulham surpassed his Silver classification to compete with far more established opponents, with the car eventually finishing ninth overall and first in Gold.

The Verstappen-backed car was in a tight battle for class honours up until its main rival, the #2 Johor Motorsports JMR Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3 R, ground to a halt with less than 10 hours to run.

The 22-year-old began his motorsport career with karting, competing in various national championships before finding success on the continent by winning the 2016 X30 Junior IAME Euro Series and 2017 IAME Euro Series.

However, budgetary constraints forced Lulham to pivot toward sim racing, where he proved himself to be one of the quickest virtual racers on the planet, joining four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen at the crack Team Redline outfit.

Lulham used this as a launch pad for another stab at motorsport success, self-funding a drive in the 2024 Radical Cup UK driving a Radical SR3. Dominance in this championship (16 wins from 18 races) paved the way for his 2025 attacks on the GTWC Sprint and Endurance series, with Verstappen acting as both mentor and financial backer.

The Spa 24 Hours was eventually won by the Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO 2 of Mirko Bortolotti, Luca Engstler and Jordan Pepper, with Lulham’s car coming home just a lap in arrears.

The Spa result sees the Verstappen.com team move up to the top of the GTWC Endurance Cup Gold standings, with Lulham and Vermeulen sitting top of the GTWC Sprint championship in their Verstappen-affiliated Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3.
