You can now ‘stress test’ Assetto Corsa EVO’s currency, driving academy and special events

A public beta opt-in for Assetto Corsa EVO is designed to ‘stress test’ the online mode – but it’s only available today (21st January).

Assetto Corsa EVO requires an account and a connection to the internet (to work with developer Kunos’ servers) to complete single-player progression presently.

And… well, it hasn’t worked since the initial early access release last week.

To help ‘stress test’ the features, developer Kunos Simulazioni has published a limited-time public beta test.

Assetto Corsa EVO Online driving academy

Available now, and set to be switched off “this evening”, those who own the game on Steam can right-click on the game, visit the properties tab, select the Betas tab and enter the code: EJzSbn5acGWCOv1SnUV9

If you then opt into the release-latest-backend build branch and wait for the download, you can then enter the game and test out features that have, until now, been locked.

Once up and running, creating a driver profile, buying a car and special events should be possible. This includes the driving academy – a series of Gran Turismo-style licence tests, the results of which also unlock further cars to purchase.

Currently, all cars are available to test and race against AI, but none of the experience points, in-game currency, special events, or car purchasing are available.

It is believed that should this test go as planned, an update will be rolled out later this week to remedy this – although, testing be testing and there’s zero guarantee that a fix will be enacted that soon.

As an early access title, it was anticipated that EVO would be rough around the edges, however, the launch so far has been anything but smooth. If everything goes as planned, a series of updates and content drops will arrive in the coming months, before a full release in the autumn of this year.

Top Tip – If this isn’t working, visit the in-game settings and manually change the ‘game mode’ to ‘online’.
