Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is compensating players with free rewards after disastrous launch

A second patch improving the performance and resolution for the PS5 version is also out now.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is compensating players with free rewards after disastrous launch

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown players will receive free in-game rewards as compensation for the server disruption that plagued the game at launch.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown was released in September, but server issues and an online connection requirement meant it was often unplayable at launch, with players unable to get past the main menu.

This was particularly frustrating for those who paid extra for the Gold Edition, which granted seven days of early access. To say that the launch was a disaster is an understatement.

In response, KT Racing and Nacon promised to compensate players who experienced server and connection issues during the launch period as an apology. What form of compensation this would be was a mystery, though KT Racing and Nacon said “it will not simply be a number of Solar Coins or an Avatar cosmetic.”

Two months after the Gold Edition launched, KT Racing and Nacon have unveiled compensation plans for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown players to be rewarded free car and stickers in December as compensation

“We understand your frustration, given the difficulties that have been encountered during the launch of TDUSC. We are sorry for this situation and we want to acknowledge your concerns,” a community post reads.

As compensation, all Gold Edition players who played Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown before 12th October will receive an exclusive ‘Adventurer “Edition of the 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe.

Available from level 15, the custom Carrera boasts several off-road modifications such as raised suspension, front-mounted fog lights, and a roof rack. Five ‘Pioneers of the Solar Crown’ premium stickers will also be offered as compensation.

These rewards will be available a few weeks after Season 2, which will add a free map based on Test Drive Unlimited 2’s Ibiza Town, launches in December, but the start date for the next season is not confirmed yet.

The free SUV will be automatically transferred to Gold Edition players who played Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown before 12th October.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s compensation hasn’t been well received by the community, with many players demanding partial refunds for the Gold Edition they could not access at launch.

Second patch improves PS5 performance and resolution

Following September’s substancial update, a second patch is out now on all platforms. While the latest patch brings fixes and improvements across all platforms, it primarily focuses on the PS5 version.

Along with over 40 bug fixes, the patch increases the resolution from 1080P to 1440P in quality mode and improves the frame rate in performance mode.

In addition, future updates will improve the AI difficulty and reduce the performance of cars that are too powerful, with the AI changes expected before Season 2 launches in December.

KT Racing is also working on a solution to improve the ranked races. Currently, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown doesn’t support crossplay and online sessions are region-locked.

KT Racing admits that Season 1’s ranked racing “may not be optimal, especially in less populated regions” and is “seeking a short-term solution to alleviate the situation” before a “more permanent fix.”
