Pizza and ice cream. Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel. Water and electricity.
Some things in life are best left separated.
Such as Germany’s premier sportscar, oval racing circuits and Halo – not exactly a classic combination, yet that’s exactly what to expect from Forza Horizon 5’s next update, due for release later this week.
Horizon Track Day Festival Playlist
This month’s festival playlist for Forza Horizon 5 is all about hitting the circuit – so naturally one of the cars is designed for off-road use…
No matter, we shall press on. As expected, the stadium has once again turned into an oval raceway, replete with 10 hidden Helmet Piñata collectables.
As you complete challenges, you can work your way towards four new cars. Each is a Porsche 911, and more specifically the recently superseded 992 (now 992.2) generation.
Before we look at each, here are the two series reward vehicles:
- Porsche #92 911 RSR – 80 points
- Lotus 2-Eleven – 160 point
Things kick off with the pinnacle of the 911 range, with the aggressive GT3 RS (main article image). Around a circuit, this is the quickest of the now 60-year-old two-door Stuttgart offers.
Its aerodynamics are a party piece that can push up to 860kgs of downforce, which is spectacular for a road-legal car.
Following that is the 911 Dakar, which is a curio. The raised, four-wheel-drive, off-road-themed sports car was only made in 2,500 units. It’s also very definitely called the ‘Dakar’ in the real world, but in Horizon 5 it’s bizarrely labelled as the ‘Rallye’.
You can customise this with a roof tent box and headlamp pods.
Then there’s the GT3 R, the current racing derivation of the line. This is all about wings and slicks, and this model is already seen in many more serious sim racing titles.
Lastly, there is the Turbo S – the GT cruiser, that is also one of the fastest 911s, with a top speed of over 200mph.
The first three are available by accruing festival playlist points, while the Turbo S is unlocked by completing the limited-time “50 Years of Porsche 911 Turbo” championship between 28th November and 5th December 2024.

Halo props and music
To go alongside the track-racing and Porsche 911 content comes… EventLab props reminiscent of the shooting franchise Halo.
These items can be used by the community to create and share customised challenges.
71 items in total are involved, including a rather impressive bridge structure. Three songs from the game’s soundtrack are also being added, for the ultimate Halo vibe.
The update will be rolling out across PC and Xbox consoles, before the new Porsche and racing Festival Playlist begins Thursday 7th November 2024. Below are the notable quality-of-life changes the update will also bring.
December will bring a Holiday-appropriate update, as per usual.

Lol this is the one thing that nobody ever asked for. We already have 10000x 911 versions, why give even more useless cars ?
it does seem like a bit of a pointless update this time!
