As we reported last month, a special Porsche-themed DLC pack is set to hit the RaceRoom Racing Experience Store shortly.
And today, KW Studios has confirmed that the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and Porsche 944 Cup will be coming to the free-to-play sim in July, arriving as part of the ‘Porsche Pack 2023’.
Not only are the three Weissach wonders arriving soon, but also we’ve had a sneak peek at what they’ll look like in-game.
Porsche 911 GT3 Cup
If you’ve played any major racing sim over the last year or so, then you’ve probably driven the latest generation of Porsche’s 911 GT3 Cup car. It’s as sure-footed as it is ubiquitous, providing a pleasant flat-six soundtrack to go with its overwhelming mechanical grip.
The best part of this car is its lack of traction control or ABS, making it a proper test of driver skill – imagine trying to drive a car with GT3 levels of performance without driver aids? Crazy.
Especially considering amateur drivers regularly compete in national Porsche Carrera Cup championships across the globe at the helm of these 500bhp+ beasts.
Porsche 911 GT3 R (992)
Already present in Assetto Corsa Competizione and iRacing, the 911 GT3 R (992) is Porsche’s GT3 weapon of choice on the international stage, competing in the GT World Challenge Europe series, Intercontinental GT Challenge and DTM.
Retaining the car’s classic rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, the 992 is an aggressive-looking take on the 911 road car, and boasts a record 14 entries for this weekend’s 24 Hours of Spa, showing its popularity with competitors.
Porsche 944 Turbo Cup
We head back to 1987 for the final Porsche in RaceRoom’s Porsche Pack, with the Porsche 944 Turbo Cup car.
Unusually for a Porsche, the 944 is front-engined, but it still managed to retain the sporty handling expected of the Stuttgart marque, leading to its 24 Hours of Le Mans debut in 1980 (albeit in slightly re-jigged form).
Raced across the globe in period – and in select historic series today – the 944 was a reliable platform for amateur enthusiasts to go racing in, with predictable enough handling and just over 200bhp to contend with.
A slight difference to today’s 911 GT3 Cup, then…
