MOZA Racing has announced its first sim racing shifter peripheral. On Monday (20th February), the HGP Shifter from MOZA was unveiled to the world, a seven-speed – plus reverse gear – H pattern gear shifter with some advanced technology included.
MOZA indicates that this is made from aviation-grade aluminum, similar to most of the rest of the MOZA lineup of products. It also is shaped and constructed in a way that prevents dust from entering the internal components. Top-notch.
The HGP H Pattern Shifter is meant to represent the same type of gearbox utilized in many classic road cars, or even the current 992 Porsche 911, with a 7+R layout. Seven different gears plus reverse, gears one through six operate in a standard fasion, seventh gear up and to the right and reverse up and to the left.
One thing that the shifter touts is a new “intelligent auto throttle blip system”, which essentially eliminates the need to use the heel-and-toe method when down-shifting. This will blip the throttle in-game for you, smoothing out gearchanges, with the optional feature adjustable within Moza’s Pit House PC software.
Similar to the way other shifters on the market work, moving to reverse or the seventh gear requires a realistic push-down to engage.
