Your guide to Gran Turismo 7’s Daily Races, w/c 16th January 2023: Hypercar track day

The McLaren P1 GTR takes centre stage in this week’s Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races playlist update.

Your guide to Gran Turismo 7's Daily Races, wc 16th January 2023 - Hypercar track day

Somehow we’re now in the third week of 2023, time is marching and this new year isn’t really ‘new’ anymore.

Surely it must be time for a now customary new content teaser tweet from Kazunori Yamauchi this coming weekend, right?

Let’s see, but before then, the ranked Sport Mode online Daily Race playlist has been updated within Gran Turismo 7.

Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races 16th December 2023

Sport Mode offers ranked online racing where you will be placed within races based on your previous performances.

Your results in Race A will not affect Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR), so feel free to race as hard as you like, but Race B and Race C results do.

RACE A

McLaren P1 GTR, Gran Turismo 7

One This week’s non-rank affecting race, aka the crash-a-thon, places the McLaren P1 GTR hybrid track-only hypercar on Monza.

A field full of this car, which was designed as a billionaire’s toy, is a recipe for disaster, you heard it hear first.

This race will be anything but dull, and it’s a car that rarely gets a run-out, so kudos to Polyphony Digital for creating this combination. Just, you know, please take it easy into Prima Variante on the opening lap, please.

Recommended car: McLaren P1 GTR ’16 (Brand Central, 3,600,000 Credits or free rental)

Race B

Porsche 911 RSR Gran Turismo 7

The newest track within the Gran Turismo 7 is back in the Daily Races, and paired with Gr.4 cars, this is a brilliant race to enter.

In fact, as soon as you’ve finished reading this, go enter it.

Alongside the current Time Trial, the Subaru WRX Gr.4 seems to be the default choice, so you should be well versed in its all-wheel-drive ways by now.

Be patient, the exit from Turn 7 is essential, as running wide here will see you lose momentum, and likely positions, all the way down the back straight, Turn 9 and into the best overtaking area, Turn 10.

Recommended car: Subaru WRX Gr.4 (Brand Central, 350,000 Credits or free rental)

Race C

Subaru WRX Gran Turismo 7

The cover picture for the race may be of the Nordschleife Karussell, but this is the rather more staid Gran Prix circuit.

10 laps in Gr.3 machinery, this is the safest and most derivative combination this week.

The Balance of Performance for this venue looks to deliver several viable car selection options. We recommend the Porsche 911 as a solid all-around option.

The chicane near the end of the lap is key to both a quick lap time and a track cut penalty, so focus on your run over the kerbs. You must also use both the Hard and Medium tyres once during the race, so a pitstop is required.

Recommended car: Porsche 911 RSR (991) ’17 (Brand Central, 450,000 Credits or free rental)

Lap Time Challenge

Gran Turismo 7's Lap Time Challenge, 5th-19th January: Sardinian Subaru

This fortnight’s Lap Time Challenge features Gr.4 cars at Sardegna’s Road Track C layout.

As has been the case with most of GT7’s Gr.4 Daily Races, the Subaru WRX is head and shoulders above the competition, making it our top pick to win you the most Credits.

A new Lap Time Challenge will become available on the 19th January 2023 at 7 am GMT.

Recommended car: Subaru WRX Gr.4 (Brand Central, 350,000 Credits)
