We have reported on American Truck Simulator’s upcoming Montana and Texas map updates before, but the sheer scope of SCS Software’s US-focused trucking sim means there are plenty of details yet to be revealed.

The latest news from the Czech developer focuses on a new city for the Montana update – Helena – as well as more information on a significant feature of the Texas DLC – enhanced rest stops.

Helena

Helena is the capital city of the state of Montana. It was founded after a gold rush in the area brought sufficient population and trade to make it one of America’s boomtowns, contributing to its rich Victorian architecture – including the American Truck Simulator-bound Capitol building.

It’s no surprise to learn that the Helena also attracts tourists looking to take advantage of outdoor pursuits like mountain biking and kayaking, thanks to its position between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks.

SCS Software has promised to squeeze in as much recognisable landscape as possible into its re-creation of the city in-game, stating that the famous Sleeping Giant mountain will be visible to virtual truckers driving through the frequently snowy landscape.

Texas rest stops

It’s part of every trucker’s daily routine, so in some ways, it’s surprising to see comparatively little focus on rest stops in the likes of ATS and Euro Truck Simulator 2. However, with the Texas DLC, SCS Software aims to bring the Lone Star State’s finest service stations to the sim.

Texas commonly has much bigger and better-equipped rest stops compared to other US states – thanks to its huge volume of tourist and commercial traffic – and as a result, SCS Software aims to bring over twenty of them to the sim.

Rest stops are places in-game where virtual drivers can fill up their rig with fuel, fulfill their mandated break times and take in the characterful view – something promised with the addition of Texas’ impressive new rest areas.
