Polyphony Digital has again gifted Gran Turismo 7 players with Balance of Performance (BoP) Daily Races this week, and the S15 Nissan Silvia takes centre stage in Race A.
We’ve had BoP races since the 21st of March, which makes complete sense in terms of the Gr.4 and Gr.3 races, since real-world GT4 and GT3 events are subject to strict BoP conditions too.
Race B sees Gr.4 cars battling at Deep Forest Raceway, while Race C casts a nod to the recent Bathurst 12 Hours with a Gr.3 race at Mount Panorama, showing off GT7‘s epic day/night transitions.
If you don’t own the required Daily Races vehicle then GT7 allows players to rent them. Handy if you feel like you don’t have the best car for the job. Speaking of which, we’ve recommended what we think are the best Gr.3 and Gr.4 cars for Races B and C below.
RACE A
The Nissan SILVIA is the subject of Race A, specifically the S15 variant. Known as the 200SX in Europe, the SILVIA features a front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout and is famous for its drifting capabilities when tuned.
As standard, the car produced 247bhp from a four-cylinder turbocharged engine, but SILVIA drift cars often feature uprated V6 or V8 powerplants, matching huge power to its handling poise for the ultimate drift car.
Race A takes place over five laps at Autodrome Lago Maggiore – West End circuit, and the medium speed turns should prove to be an excellent match for the Nissan’s cornering capabilities.
The SILVIA is currently available in the Used Car dealership for 60,200 Credits.
Recommended car: Nissan SILVIA spec-R Aero (S15) ’02, (Used Car dealership, 60,200 Credits or free rental)
Race B
Race B takes us to Switzerland, and the fictional Deep Forest Raceway – in Reverse configuration. The fan favourite track returned to the series in GT7 and it’s made many appearances in the Daily Races since.
This time, Gr.4 racers get a chance to hit the track and the usual array of cars is selectable. Despite not having too many tight hairpins, it looks like the four-wheel drive Subaru WRX Gr.4 is the OP choice, somewhat replicating the recent dominance of the Mazda Atenza.
However, for this race, the Subaru sits at 369bhp and weighs 1355kg, while the Atenza has been left at its base power and weight of 393bhp and 1380kg. So, it’s a tad confusing as to why the Subaru appears to be so dominant.
Another solid choice for this race is the Alfa-Romeo 155 2.5 V6 TI ’93 touring car. It also has four-wheel drive and weighs only 1160kg after BoP is applied, but is rather breathless on the long front straight as it’s restricted to 330bhp.
Recommended car: Subaru WRX Gr.4 (Brand Central, 350,000 Credits or free rental)
Race C
We head ‘down under’ for Race C, as we visit the Mount Panorama, located in Bathurst, New South Wales. Although Race C is traditionally a test of endurance, this event features only 1x tyre wear and fuel consumption, meaning the race is more of a 25-minute sprint.
Even more oddly, the best car for the job is the fictional Gr.3 Volkswagen Beetle – never has a car looked more unsuited to GT racing since… well, the Bentley Continental GT3.
With night transitioning into day, Race C is a chance for PlayStation 5 owners to see the sumptuous Australian sunrise in glorious 4K, but it’s best not to look too closely, as Mount Panorama’s blind crests and dips are there to catch out the unwary. The walls aren’t exactly forgiving either.
Recommended car: Volkswagen Beetle Gr.3( Brand Central, 450,000 credits or free rental)
