Good news for American Truck Simulator fans, as yesterday (22nd March) SCS Software released a new truck to the sim – and the good news is it’s free!
The International® 9900i – manufactured by Navistar International in the USA – is a classic-looking American road hauler, featuring that distinctive long-nose bonnet we all remember from 1970s movies such as Smokey and the Bandit and Convoy (or is that just me?).
It’s powered by a 620bhp Cummins ISX engine, allowing heavy loads to be transported the length and breadth of the US. Just try not to think of the fuel cost…
The International comes with the usual array of customisable cabin options, including sleeper and day cabs, interior and exterior accessories, and exhaust location choices.
Although two tall chimney exhausts either side of the cab is the only correct option. Sorry, it just is.
Coming off the back of last week’s drop deck trailers content addition to ATS, the new International 9900i is also a chance for American Truck Simulator (ATS) players to drive a piece of American history.
The real-life truck was discontinued in 2017, phased out in favour of International’s ProStar and LoneStar range of trucks.
Rocky road to Montana
In other ATS news, SCS Software has teased more upcoming location updates, this time bringing the state of Montana to the popular sim.
Featuring the cities of Boseman, Laurel, Sidney, Havre, and err… Glasgow, Montana is a blend of rugged Rocky Mountains scenery and agriculture, forestry and mining industries. Plenty to keep truckers busy, then.
With entrances to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, it looks like ATS players will be treated to outstanding landscapes, but most importantly, increased opportunities to make money for their burgeoning haulage businesses.
No release date has been revealed yet, but the Montana update is available to Wishlist on Steam now.
